A Tale of Four Women.

Lilian stared aimlessly as the driver drove past the streets of Lagos into Victoria island, she felt a thundering ache in the pit of her belly , her eyes were watery and she bit her lip not to shed tears, she could not believe that ochuko would do this to her, she was dressed in a short animal print gown with red killer heels, she was a woman on a mission.

You see Lilian's story was a peculiar one, she was a 24 year old graduate who thought she had hit the jackpot when she started dating an oil tycoon, being the 5th child in a family of 7 kids she was accustomed to struggling all her life, at the age of 13 her good looks had caused her unimaginable pain as she had been gang raped by two of her cousins, after the terrible ordeal she had rushed painfully into the arms of her mothers bosom , she could never forget the look in her fathers eyes when her mum narrated what had happened to her to him, he looked at her with utmost disgust and spat out in his drunken state "why would you do this to us eh??" she stared disbelievingly as her father continued to rain insults on her, "why did you wear shorts into a boy's room?? did you not know you were inviting trouble?" he continued, "i told you this girl will put us in trouble, you wear short things and parade yourself like a cheap prostitute what do you expect?" "look okorie has promised to get me a supervisor's job at the construction site this month so what do you want me to do?, accuse his boys of rape."her father continued, she was speechless, her mum stood transfixed in shock, after her father was through raining insults her mother took her calmly away washed her up and gave her pills to drink, that was her first brush with real life. all the innocence died with her that day, she felt nothing when she walked by the streets and her cousins openly winked at her, she felt nothing at age 14 when her maths teacher groped her after classes , pushed his tobacco stained tongue down her throat and raped her continually for 3 months, she felt nothing at age 15 when her father called her in to tell her a 30 year old clerk from Port harcourt has indicated he wanted to
marry her, there was no talk of her education, the deal was done. she stared up on the ceiling of their cramped two bedroom apartment and thought to herself "perhaps it's all for the best" maybe marriage and kids was the answer for her.

2011 New Year New beginnings

Happy New Year folks, first of all i just want to say i do not believe in new year resolutions, i mean if you want to be a better person you make up your mind everyday to do something, push yourself further..but its always good to have your goals spelt out. i mean in 2010 i set out to achieve a lot of my goals and i was not thoroughly dissapointed, fine i did not make a million dollars or lose 20 pounds but i set the ball rolling and even surpassed most of my goals. Thank God for that because He made it possible.

now lets look at 2011, this is a year that i personally believe so many changes will be evident in the world, for starters we will get to find out if Michelle Obama is truly pregnant as rumors have truly been circulating and also Ghana will prove that they truly will use their new found wealth (oil) for the good of their nation and not to its detriment as nigeria did (the president's words not mine) but to be honest we all know its easier to mouth off they say power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely so we will see, but for Nigeria we will get to see if the most populous black nation in the world can conduct a free and fair election and elect a truly democratic president.

before you all label me some kind of prophet, i have no idea what will happen in 2011, i have been reading with utmost disbelief at some of the so called predictions of 2011 by some of these prophets, some say that Buhari will win the elections while some have said Goodluck will win personally let whosoever that will correct the damn power supply in this country be the president i dont care if we have to import some japaneese citizen and nationalize him to run for elections i have lost count of how much i spend on petrol for my generator i will vote a 21 year old transvesite who does not speak a word of ibo to be president so long as he /she can provide basic infrastructure for us ,i mean lets face it whats the use having your tribe produce a president if nothing else changes.

which brings me back to the issue of the bombings in Jos and Abuja and the burning down of churches in Maiduguri, i never believed Nigeria would get this bad, this all started from kidnapping to burning up of oil wells now to bombings and killing innocent citizens, WTF is going on?who allowed the importation of this weapons , when did Nigeria become alfghanistan, whats next for this people. Nigeria has always been called a lot of things but terrorist nation was the last adjective i expected to be in that mix, i thought deep down we loved each other too much to destroy innocent lives like this but i guess i was wrong.

so yeah in 2011 if you expected a comedic post about boy and girl relationships, or how some skinny thief tried to dupe me out of money that i did not have in 2010, or expected a post on how best to convert your boyfriend into your husband you were wrong, this is the year they will test us to the limit, this is the year we will show this old politicians that their time is up, this is the year we will stand together as one and show the world that truly Nigeria will not fall, we will fight for our right to vote, we will fight for our votes to count and we will fight for our elected officials to represent us not their fat bank accounts, this year nigerians will rise and tell naysayers that we can come together and not only be the biggest black country in the world but also the greatest.

P.S if i am wrong and i pray not lets not split up abeg i really do not want to have to go for visa interviews to go round the different regions in nigeria i really want to go to Obudu and Kainji this year..ok happy new year folks.
