Lagos State Government Issues Ultimatum To Okada Riders Again

Lagos State Government has given okada riders in the metropolis 21 days deadline to stop plying all the restricted routes.

During a meeting with the okada unions in Lagos at the State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, the state government reiterated the need for the riders to cease from plying the stipulated roads.

The chairman of the meeting and Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Tunji Bello told newsmen that the government have given riders in the state 21- days deadline for the union to sensitise their members to desist from plying the stipulated routes before disciplinary actions would begin against offenders. According to him,

We just held a meeting with the okada unions on what should be done; we have held meeting with security agencies before now. Recently, we noticed resurgence of okada riders going back to their old ways. Some of them even drive one way on Apapa Expressway. When you go to Apapa, Lagos-Badagry Express, Gbagada, and others, you will see them. We have to call them to let them know”
The complain was that when the election was coming, there was relaxation and they went back. They though there had been relaxation. They asked us to give them sometimes, we felt there was need for two weeks of enlightenment, but they said it was too short. They asked for. Two months till August and we said no, we can only give three weeks maximum because we are not doing anything new, what we are doing is to reinforce the law, it is not that we are re-enacting the law,”

Radio Biafra should Nigeria be worried?

Its fair to say that the Nigerian Civil war was one of the bloodiest and most disruptive wars the Nigerian polity has ever seen.

This war fought from 1967-1970 was a war fought to counter the secession of Biafra from Nigeria.
Biafra represented nationalist aspirations of the Igbo people, whose leadership felt they could no longer coexist with the Northern-dominated federal government. with the popular  "no victor no vanquished " speech at the end of the war this should have marked the end of hostilities between the three major ethnic tribes, Ibo, Yoruba and Hausa, however forty five years later there are still trickles of tribalism, malice and distrust that exist amongst some Nigerians.

The build up to the 2015  elections triggered" in my opinion" the recessive tribal anti sentiments that existed amongst the Nigerian people, with some  South South and South Eastern Nigerians voting for the then incumbent Goodluck Jonathan for no other reason apart from the fact that he was  from their region whilst some Northerners voted for the current President because of his tribe.

In what can only be described as a show of shame, lawmakers belonging to the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party were locked in a brawl at the Benue State House of Assembly, north-central Nigeria, on Tuesday. following a letter addressed to the Speaker by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to appoint majority leader for the Assembly and an alleged decamping of one of the PDP law makers to APC.

These are supposed to be the representatives of the people and they are here exchanging blows. smh.

Google launches free streaming service ‘Play Music’

Google is launching a free version of its music streaming service Play Music.
Google Play Music already has a subscription-based service, where users pay monthly to listen to an unlimited amount of tracks.

The free version will be made up of curated playlists designed for different times of the day and tailored towards what you are doing. The new free service, initially only available in the US, will include adverts similar to the Spotify model.

It uses Songza, an internet radio app that Google bought a year ago. In a blog post, Google product manager Elias Roman said: “Even if you’re not already a Google Play Music subscriber, we’ve got you covered. “Google Play Music now has a free, ad-supported version in the US, giving you a new way to find just the right music – and giving artists another way to earn revenue. “The new free, ad-supported version of Google Play Music is launching first in the US. It’s available on the web today, and is rolling out this week to Android and iOS.” Google said it hopes the new free version will encourage people to sign up for the subscription-based tier of the service, which costs $10 (£6.34). The service had around 815,000 paying subscribers in the US last December.

For now, Google isn’t announcing any expansion of the free tier outside the US, though the paid plan is now available in 52 countries. It’ll compete against Apple’s much-publicised new music service, which is due to launch on Tuesday 30 June and will be free for the first three months. Earlier this week, Taylor Swift wrote an open letter to Apple over their plans to not pay artists during the 90-day Apple Music trial. It led to the company reversing its stance and it now says it’ll pay royalties for streams during that time.

Spotify announced last month that it would be offering video content for the first time and the world’s second largest streaming site, Deezer, announced is adding more than 20,000 new podcasts to its service. On Tuesday Peter Tonstad, the boss of the Jay Z’s music streaming service Tidal, left the company after three months in the job.

National Assembly is broke, will take loans to pay lawmakers – Official

Amidst the controversy trailing the N9,000,000,000 Wardrobe allowance for Nigerian Legislators a shocking story has made it's way to the blogosphere.

Allegedly the national assembly is broke and will take loan to pay salaries??

Scratches head

The National Assembly Service Commission has stated that it is cash-strapped and cannot pay salaries of its legislators most of whom have completed their tour of duty and were either voted out or did not seek re-election.

Speaking to Guardian Newspaper, a top management official of the commission with knowledge of the financial state of the National Assembly revealed that the commission which gets N150 billion to run its affairs, had to take loans to pay salaries of lawmakers.
“Our account is in the red. We can’t even pay our staff salaries. In fact, I can confirm to you that we are yet to complete the payment of salaries of the Seventh Legislators that wound up their activities last June 9.

We have to obtain loans from banks to be able to pay them. So nobody is talking about the allowances of this Eighth Assembly now. We don’t know how we are going to handle it.
“I don’t know where the information came from that we are going to pay wardrobe allowance amounting to almost N9 billion.
“Whoever is peddling that rumour is really doing a disservice to the new presiding officers and members of

Dominican Republic and its Haitan Citizens (Xenophobia or Nah?)

In 1503, the ports of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic became the first recorded location of captive Africans being sold as slaves. Thanks to the French occupation of Haiti, the Dominican Republic became a vehicle for modern slavery in the region.

Following the Haitian slave rebellion, liberated Haitians invaded their neighbors in the Dominican Republic in their quest to free the slaves in the tiny nation. For 22 years the Haitian military occupied the Dominican Republic and in the process built what is now known as Antihaitianismo – the fierce hatred of Haitians by Dominicans.  In 1937, Dominican dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo ordered the massacre of Haitians living in the northwestern region of the Dominican Republic that borders Haiti.

Relations between both nations have been fraught with a lot of racial tension and in September 2013, a Dominican court decision stripped the citizenships of Dominicans with Haitian ancestry.
According to the decision, Dominicans born after 1929 to parents who are not of Dominican ancestry are to have their citizenship revoked. The ruling affects an estimated 250,000 Dominican people of Haitian descent, including many who have had no personal connection with Haiti for several generations

The wolves rushed the meal left hurriedly by the maiden,
Their excited whines rhymed, as they lapped up the meal left by the heathen.
An unsuspecting onlooker might suspect foul play in this scene
As quietly it appeared as if the maiden had been fooled by a fiend.
Suddenly strange sounds came from far deep in the forest.
Orchestrated by a gust of wind so powerful it shook the hare’s nest.
The wolves ears pricked up, sudden panic gripping their pack.
The remains of their meal forgotten they hurriedly ran away from this path.
Something dark…………..something pungent. Something powerful….. something Gruesome.
Its footsteps hidden, its form unseen, materialized from behind its Lair.
Evil had been called out to haunt the night.

The crickets heralded its arrival, their sudden outburst of singing breaking the tranquility of the night.
A large black sea of Birds convened on the tree tops in the compound.
Their sheer numbers blackening the moon lit sky.
Chickens asleep awoke with sheer fright, making their way hurriedly into the next farm.
The wind howled at its direction, unseen eyes tracing the maidens  footsteps to this house.
The wooden gates creaked open in submission.
There was Legal permission to subdue this household.

Chris Brown and Karreuche's never ending Love triangle seems like it may never end.

Yes, Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran are by no means happily together. But despite their single status, the pair just can't seem to avoid talking about each other. Need an example? Here's what went down this weekend.

It all started when the rapper discovered his ex spoke out about their relationship in a recent interview. Instead of remaining quiet, the "Run It" rapper reportedly sounded off on Instagram.
"Honestly, it's so f--king pointless to keep doing interviews about me. Talk about your career," he wrote. "If there is no more relationship then u shouldn't be doing f--king interviews with people I won't let get the pleasure of prying into my personal life. S--t starting to get real weak now."

Lo and behold, Tran saw the Instagram comment and decided to explain herself on her own social media page.

81 year old stuns with youthful figure.

Can you believe this woman is 81 years old???????? To be frank i am literally shocked. she looks fantastic for her age.

Her secret? she says it's because she never got married.

How old do you think I look? Go on, be honest. I’m used to people refusing to believe me when I tell them, so take a good long look.

I’ll let you in on a few vital statistics. I’m 5ft 4in, a tidy size 12 and not only is that long blonde hair you see all mine, but you won’t find a grey hair in it. I haven’t grown one yet.
I’ve also never had plastic surgery, Botox, fillers or tooth whitening.

THE CHILDLESS CRY. SCENE 1

©

She made her way silently into the forest,
The sounds of danger loud in the distance,  did not fill her with foreboding,
Her pain and anguish led her on, halting temporarily her fear of the forest.
Wearing nothing but a wrapper across her chest, the despondent maiden made her way into the forest.

Seven years she had tarried, counting on sticks her monthly cycle.
Seven years she had prepared, for a sign of carrying a fetus.
Seven years she had cried as all her friends had brought forth their offspring.
Seven years was more than enough to push her into the shrine of the Oracle.

Her husband had brought their enemies to the ground.
With his spear he had charged and led their village to victory,
Countless battles he was the hero, But in this one thing he fell short.
He had begun to feel his manhood being questioned,
Who would sing songs of his great feats in battle?
If there was no one to carry his name at death.

Fearless female motocross rider races for gender equality in Iran

In a conservative society seeing a group of women revving on their motor cycles could be a bit intimidating.

When Iranian women see Behnaz Shafiei dismount from her motorcycle and peel off her helmet, they stand mesmerized.

“I did not know that it was a woman riding until I noticed her hair,” Mahnaz Rahimi, a housewife, told The Associated Press. “It took me by surprise that a woman can be so courageous. I don’t have the guts to do such a thing.”

Armed with her vibrant yellow and red motorcycle, 26-year-old Behnaz Shafiei is a force to be reckoned with. By racing around and leaping over hurdles on her bike, the young Iranian rider is breaking barriers in a notoriously conservative country where women are actually banned from riding motorcycles in public. (Iran is, just now, partially opening up sports stadiums to women.

June 12: 7 quotes MKO Abiola will always be remembered for

Today is the 22nd annual commemoration of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election believed to have been won by late MKO Abiola. The entire election results were dubiously annulled by the military head of state Ibrahim Babangida.

We bring you Abiola’s top 7 quotes in remembrance of this special day.

1. Accept what God has given you and make the best use of it

2. If you go borrowing, you will go a sorrowing

3. It should not take the extreme measure of killing a new born child just because the midwife is a bad woman.

4. No one can give you power. It is yours. Take it!

5. From this day, show to the world that anyone who takes the people of Nigeria for fools is deceiving himself and will have the people to answer to.

6. People of Nigeria, our time is now. You are the repository of power in the land.

7. There is no humiliation I have not endured, no snare that has not been put in my path, no “setup” that has not been designed for me in my endeavour to use the path of peace to enforce the mandate that you bestowed on me.

Could this native ethopian tribe replace the kardashians

"The Tribe" is a Channel 4 reality show set in Ethiopia's Omo Valley.

In a world where people are becoming sick of shows showing grand opulence when others are languishing in poverty, perhaps the answer to enough of the Kardashians is a reality show about a family from opposite sides of the divide. "literally"

Can a family from Ethiopia's Hamar tribe prove as riveting as the Kardashians? British television broadcaster Channel 4 is banking on it.

This week, the network aired the first episode of "The Tribe," a reality show set in Ethiopia's Omo Valley.

Rachel Dolezal 'Disguised Herself' As Black Activist Rachel Dolezal says she "understands" some may feel she misrepresented her ethnicity, as she sparks a social media storm.

Game of Thrones season 5 episode 8 review:

So early Saturday morning  at about 1.00 a.m, i posted a review on Season 5 Episode 8 of Game of thrones on  another social media site .

I've decided to repost it on here............................ sigh those GOT writers want to kill person.

Now this review will have no syntax because I'm not thinking straight so I will begin by saying "I called it",

Oh yes I did, what do I mean? The first time I watched 3 episodes of a show called Spartarcus "I called it" this was way before people started following the show,

Just so you now my favorite type of movies, films whatever are Epics, maybe it's because they are adapted from a true story "in my mind" or whatever ,they are my fave, s and my movie guy then knew it,so he gave me to watch when no one I knew had ever heard of it, I watched it and wouldn't stop tweeting about it then it caught on everywhere.

Same thing with game of Thrones, from the first episode I was hooked, the starks and their wolf's or whatever they call those animals, the lanisters and their blonde hair, the tyrells and their well....wife swapping and then of course Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons, it's a show that has everything I love and then some, intrigue, drama, action ,..... kit Harington, horror, political intrigue, romance, tragedy and of course .........kit Harington, people liked the show but I think it was after that brutal episode red wedding that people actually became hooked to the show, pain and tragedy are powerful tools the yanks found this out early but I digress....Episode 8 Season 5

Hello Hello Hello....in movie news that can be described as music to my ears , three of my favorite characters , Michael Ealy, Sanaa Lathan and Morris Chestnut are set to heat up your movie screens in September.

The Perfect Guy debuted its first trailer today, and The Following’s Michael Ealy portrays an obsessive boyfriend.

The Following season 3 introduced us to Michael Ealy’s Theo Noble, a brilliant hacker who also happened to be a dangerous serial killer. He was cold, smart, and efficient, giving the hero of the show, Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon), way more than he bargained for.

Now, it looks like Ealy will be bringing something similar to his role in The Perfect Guy. In fact, Ealy’s character in the movie is an IT expert, too.

Check out the trailer for the film below:

He walked into the study as directed by the manservant at the doorway, he marveled at its opulence and exquisite furnishing.
Chandeliers dangled from the ceilings , it’s clear cut glass sparkled like diamonds suspended in the air giving the room a whimsical look, he spotted by the corner a piano perched by the dining set, carvings etched on its wooden frame signifying it was an antique of great value, the sofa was soft to the touch.
He gave an involuntary whistle as he sighted the magnificent painting that stood on the far side of the wall , even to his untrained eye he could tell that it was of great value, with his hands perched in his pockets he continued to survey the room marveling to himself “There are Rich and there are “Rich” people “he thought, everything in this house smelt of long money, not quick riches obtained from Bank loans and sharp deals, the wealth he could see in this house was the type of wealth where Bank CEO’s  outside the country would be on first name basis with the owner.
Surprisingly there was no tinge of envy and it was not just that the owner of the house lay dead in a mortuary in Ikoyi , Richard was not an envious man , dedicated and hardworking he would rather get his own things than look with envy at what belonged to another or so he thought until he saw HER.

Meet the Forbes billionaire who gave up all his wealth for… a religious title

BHANWARLAL RAGHUNATH DOSHI

This Story reminds me of Matthew 19:21 in the Bible where a rich young man came to Jesus and said to  him "All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking? and Jesus responded "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.

Well the young man did not do that and most people will not but this multi millionaire did just that

You see, Doshi borrowed the princely sum of Rs 30,000 from his father in the late 70s to start his own plastic trading business in Delhi.
The son of a small textile merchant from Rajasthan, who embraced crippling hardships when he rejected his father’s offer to join his family’s modest business, was clear about one thing — he would reach the top of his trade.
He did.
